Climate Conformity Diversity Episode Gerrymandering Mexico City Mike McCabe Water Shortage Wisconsin Wisconsin Supreme Court WSUM Zero Day

TMI 03/01/2024 – Mexico City Faces a “Day Zero” Water Crisis, Wisconsin’s Horrific Gerrymandering Ends with New Maps, Mike McCabe on How the Conformist Backlash to DEI is Fundamentally Un-American

At 22 million people, situated on what was once a mighty lake roughly 700 years ago well over a mile above sea level, Mexico City has a lot going against it when it comes to keeping its citizens’ water supplies well-stocked. Add to that a long climate-crisis exacerbated drought, and there is no small chance that by June there may come a day when most of the city has no running water – a “day zero”. We discuss.

Next, we look at the improvements made to the horrific gerrymandering that Wisconsin had been suffering under for all state legislature elections since 2012, and the difference it makes in having the lines moved. Finally, we look at Mike McCabe’s post discussing how the people who are pressing for conformity in their fellow American citizens aren’t just wrong headed – they are acting un-American! All this and more on TMI for Friday, March 01, 2024 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

Campaign Finance Citizens United Constitutional Right to Vote Episode Mark Pocan McCutcheon vs FEC Mike McCabe Wisconsin Democracy Campaign WSUM

TMI 4/05/2014: McCabe on McCutcheon, You Have No Right to Vote, and Much More!

In this week’s Supreme Court ruling on McCutcheon vs FEC, we saw what many are denouncing as “the end of democracy in America” and “Citizens United on steroids” – it certainly looks bad, but what exactly happened, and what are the most likely repercussions? I’m brushed up on the issue, but I cannot match the years of campaign finance expertise of Mike McCabe, of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. He’ll join us to give us a clear view of it all.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough electoral bad news, I’m going to go over a very strange fact: you do not have a Constitutional right to vote in America. If you think that sounds insane, you’re not alone: Congressman Mark Pocan has proposed a Constitutional amendment to explicitly define that right to vote for all. But just in case you think he and I are completely off-base, we’ll review exactly why we make this outrageous claim.

All that and more on TMI for Saturday April 5th, 2014, broadcasting live at noon Central on WSUM 91.7FM and audio-streamed live via http://wsum.org/ ! Don’t miss a thing!
