Then, for fans of the show Revolution, the idea of all the power going down at once may sound familiar, but what if I said there’s a plan afoot, put together by agencies and utilities throughout the USA and Canada, to simulate “a knockout blow” on the power grid? Ostensibly, it is supposed to test for weak spots so we can better reinforce it against potential terrorist attacks, but many local power systems are so fragile and piecemeal that even doing a controlled knockout might disable their power distribution well beyond the intended test period.
