The Washington Post hasn’t been shy about criticizing RFK Jr.’s Department of Health and Human Services for pushing disinformation on a number of topics, from autism to vaccines, but when RFK Jr’s HHS released a report full of anti-trans pseudoscience, they embraced it warmly. With help from Erin Reed’s cogent reporting, we examine the falsehoods that WaPo helped endorse, and work to combat the corrosive effect of a major American newspaper spreading them.

We then give a rapid overview of four more topics – the surprise win for Democrat in the race for Omaha’s mayor, how a Federal judge is questioning if noncitizens have Constitutional rights, how Michigan’s Department of Corrections is violating women prisoners’ rights by video recording them even in the shower, and finally what Pope Leo XIV’s past and choice of name tells us about his political positions. Rebroadcasting the first TMI for 2025, we look at how the arguments being used to take rights away from trans youth would, if allowed to be the basis by SCOTUS for their decision, also decimate rights for all women in the United States, cis and trans alike! Next, we move over to Finland, who in investigating the damage caused to the power cable that connects Estonia to their grid, took in a tanker that had a full complement of Russian spy equipment and personnel.

Then, we look at the despicable attacks being leveled against former President Jimmy Carter by CNN, Fox and others, all based around his 2006 book where he recalled his attempts in the late 1970s to make peace between Israel and Palestine, referring to Israel as an “apartheid” state. They dug up all the old controversy without noting that NONE of what Carter reported would be considered remotely inaccurate today. Finally, we take a glimpse at a breakthrough in quantum teleportation, where they were able to instantaneously transmit the complete photonic state between locations separated by 30km worth of very busy Internet fiber cable. Usually, I prefer a relaxed attitude about things: no jacket required, open mic nights, etc. In the case of big oil, however, I make an exception: they want to bring Alberta tar sands bitumen to market, no Keystone XL required… and it looks like they’ve managed it. Steve Horn joins us to discuss how this came to be while we were focused on KXL.

It comes up every few years, but this time it’s been reframed in an insidious new way that tricked former opponents into backing it.
