TMI 05/30/2025 – Lisa Graves Says Chief Justice John Roberts is ‘Unprecedented’, Bill in Congress to Destroy Courts’ Oversight of Trump, Federal Court Blocks Iowa Book Ban, more

Today’s episode opens with an illuminating interview with Lisa Graves, Co-host at Legal AF, MeidasTouch and the Five 8 1/2, discussing her forthcoming book “Unprecedented,” which examines Chief Justice John Roberts’ leadership in the Supreme Court and his rise to power on the backs of the nation’s most fascist interests- listen in to hear more.

Next, we looked at alarming developments in Congress, where provisions buried within Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” are designed to systematically dismantle judicial oversight, including the No Rogue Rulings Act, which would strip judges of their power to issue nationwide injunctions against Trump’s policies. Finally, a federal court has struck down Iowa’s anti-LGBTQ book ban law as largely unconstitutional for its prohibition of school library books “containing descriptions or depictions of sex acts.” All this and more on TMI for Friday, May 30, 2025 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

TMI 05/23/2025 – Books That Don’t Exist Make It to Chicago Sun Times, Attorney for Venezuelans in El Salvador Wrongly Arrested, NOAA and NWS Hobbled by DOGE Cuts, more

Today on TMI – the Chicago Sun-Times published a summer reading list featuring books that don’t actually exist, with the author admitting to using artificial intelligence to help create the section, serving up a stark reminder of how technology can undermine media credibility when oversight fails.

Next, we went to El Salvador where an attorney representing Venezuelan immigrants deported by Trump was wrongfully jailed by President Bukele, in an unlawful crackdown on legal advocates and civil rights in the region. Finally, we explored how DOGE cuts have hobbled NOAA and the National Weather Service, ending the agency’s half-century tradition of around-the-clock weather monitoring, leaving critical public safety capabilities compromised. TMI 05/16/2025 – Washington Post’s Inconsistent Ethics, Omaha’s Electoral Upset, Federal ICE Free Speech Case, Women’s Prison Privacy & Pope Leo XIV’s Emerging Papacy, more

The Washington Post hasn’t been shy about criticizing RFK Jr.’s Department of Health and Human Services for pushing disinformation on a number of topics, from autism to vaccines, but when RFK Jr’s HHS released a report full of anti-trans pseudoscience, they embraced it warmly. With help from Erin Reed’s cogent reporting, we examine the falsehoods that WaPo helped endorse, and work to combat the corrosive effect of a major American newspaper spreading them.

We then give a rapid overview of four more topics – the surprise win for Democrat in the race for Omaha’s mayor, how a Federal judge is questioning if noncitizens have Constitutional rights, how Michigan’s Department of Corrections is violating women prisoners’ rights by video recording them even in the shower, and finally what Pope Leo XIV’s past and choice of name tells us about his political positions. TMI 05/09/2025 – Interview with Ricky Gaona, Documentary Filmmaker of Means TV’s “Parque Central”, Judge Quotes Shakespeare in Takedown of Trump, Gov. Evers Stands Up to ICE Czar Homan, more

Parque Central, exclusive to Means TV (means.tv), is a documentary about the sharp divides to be found in the day to day lives of those native to the Antigua, Guatemala area and the rich tourist-catering class that runs the city – Ricky Gaona comes to us to talk about his experiences in making such a visceral and vital look at how the need for money turns people into problems.

Next, we look at how Judge Beryl Howell used Shakespeare in permanently blocking Trump’s attempt to destroy law firm Perkins Coie and how that then stops Trump from doing the same to other lawyers who don’t agree with his edicts. Finally, we follow up on Governor Tony Evers’ memo on how to handle interactions with ICE agents, as Tom Homan, acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) threatened Evers with dire consequences over what was a perfectly legal statement by the Governor. Evers isn’t going to back down, and we let you hear it in his own words. All this and more on TMI for Friday, May 09, 2025 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

BEST OF TMI 5/02/2025 – McKibben’s Review of How Trump’s “Emergencies” Make Things Worse, Ezra Klein’s “Abundance” Book Abundantly Wrong, Corporation Gets Presidential Pardon, more

Bringing back the 4/11/2025 episode in this Best of TMI presentation!

Bill McKibben’s recent blog post tackled brilliantly the fact that while the Trump regime has been announcing emergencies everywhere, the ones that legitimately need to be addressed are only made WORSE by the corporate-friendly “solutions”, and the rest of these EXCUSES only benefit a VERY few tied directly to Trump – we review it. Then, we look at Ezra Klein’s book “Abundance” (co-authored by Derek Thompson) and how it falsely frames problems in doing good things for people as the fault of those who created the solutions, rather than expose the sinister actions of monopolies that don’t want their profits harmed. Finally, we briefly note that, likely for the first time ever, Trump issued a full Presidential Pardon for a corporation.
