You might not be aware of it, with Elon Musk and Donald Trump taking virtually all the air out of the news lately, but the State of Wisconsin has one of the MOST important elections in the USA for 2025 coming up in just over a month! On Tuesday, April 1st, Wisconsin’s GOP wants to pull the most cruel April Fool’s joke ever by ripping control of our state’s Supreme Court away from us after just two short years. With Ann Walsh Bradley retiring after 30 years of liberal rulings, the 4-3 liberal mix of the court would be put back in conservative hands if Scott Walker’s former Attorney General Brad Schimel is allowed to beat Susan Crawford in this spring election. We got over what is at stake.

Next, we review how the recent strategic firings at the National Labor Relations Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (The NLRB and the EEOC, respectively) hamstring those organizations’ ability to act in any way, robbing them each of the quorum necessary to act on behalf of workers nationwide. Then we read, with permission, the writings of our UK friend George Monbiot, as he details how there, those who had been pointing out the ways in which their society needed to be improved to forestall calamity were pushed aside in a way that’s all too familiar here in the United States. At 22 million people, situated on what was once a mighty lake roughly 700 years ago well over a mile above sea level, Mexico City has a lot going against it when it comes to keeping its citizens’ water supplies well-stocked. Add to that a long climate-crisis exacerbated drought, and there is no small chance that by June there may come a day when most of the city has no running water – a “day zero”. We discuss.

Next, we look at the improvements made to the horrific gerrymandering that Wisconsin had been suffering under for all state legislature elections since 2012, and the difference it makes in having the lines moved. Finally, we look at Mike McCabe’s post discussing how the people who are pressing for conformity in their fellow American citizens aren’t just wrong headed – they are acting un-American! Then, we go over the bill that has passed the US Senate, looking to end the madness of changing our clocks twice a year by making Daylight Saving Time a permanent state, beginning November 2023.

Finally, we talk about a recent report from the US Secret Service, noting that a significant portion of domestic terrorist activity has been coming from the growing “incel community” online.
