TMI 12/06/2024 – Bad Media Watchdog, No Biscuit!, Act 10 Struck Down in Mighty Win for Unions, Detroit Mayor Duggan Will Run for MI Gov as Independent, more

As the Cure for the Common Media, TMI aims to be an effective media watchdog, holding it to account for distortions and omissions… which means the piece from Jessica Wildfire on how human beings associate the ones giving bad news with badness itself was deeply troubling. We go over it all, showing how human cognition often serves us poorly when the news goes against what we WISH were true, even finding the narrow balancing act that can make truth-telling effective DESPITE the tendency to “shoot the messenger”.

Then, we take a moment to celebrate that Dane County Judge Jacob Frost ruled that a tremendous amount of the union-busting evil that was Scott Walker’s Act 10 went against the Wisconsin State Constitution. Finally, we turn our attention to the upcoming Michigan Gubernatorial race as Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan was declare he will be running, but not as the lifelong Democratic candidate one would expect – he’s running as an independent! We’ll keep our eyes on this to see if he meand to be a Bernie Sanders type (yaaay!) or more of a Joe Manchin (boooo!). All this and more on TMI for Friday, December 06, 2024 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

TMI 10/25/2014 – Another Party Heard From with Mary Jo Walters on Wisconsin and Patrick Walker on Politics

Mary Jo Walters is running a campaign to represent the people of Wisconsin as Governor (after trying to run for Lt. Governor), but she’s not about to limit herself to the two big parties to do it! We’ll have her live in studio to discuss what it means to run outside the system. Then, Patrick Walker has been thinking about how Bernie Sanders may run for President in 2016, and he thinks that should be as a Democrat – but not so Bernie can be co-opted!

We’ll have all that and much more on TMI for 10/25/2014, broadcasting live at noon Central on WSUM 91.7 FM Madison or streaming live on http://wsum.org/ anywhere. Tune in for your Cure for the Common Media!

TMI 8/02/2014 – ALEC’s Cookin’ with Gas (w/ Steve Horn), Mary Jo’s Campaigning for Local Control and More!

Are you a natural gas corporation, unhappy with the rapid pace of hydraulic fracturing development under the current administration (you want even more)? Then do what Cheniere did: join the ranks of corporate bill-mill ALEC, and have them write model legislation that will pave the way for you. Steve Horn returns to shed light on this and more!

Then: returning to TMI in the middle of her campaign for Lt. Governor, Mary Jo Walters joins us from the midst of a multi-day bike ride across Wisconsin to promote the idea that maybe, instead of electing people who will allow big moneyed interests to take control of local resources away from the communities near them, we should consider focusing our elected officials’ attention on maintaining the integrity of local control.

All that and much more live today on TMI at noon Central on 91.7 WSUM FM in Madison and globally via wsum.org – tune in for your Cure for the Common Media!
