TMI 08/11/2023 – The Core of Conspiracy Theories Isn’t Entirely Wrong, How Building Communal Trust Can Help Us Cope With the Climate Crisis, Fighting to Feed the Homeless in Houston and more

Conspiracy theories are everywhere lately, and we look at the fundamental core underlying them all to see that THAT, at least, appears to be valid. Then, while we spend a moment taking stock of how disastrous a winter Antarctica is having, we turn from that to see how building trust in each other on the local level can help mitigate the disasters we face as the Climate Crisis rolls on.

Finally, we look on as Food Not Bombs volunteers in Houston take on the city’s law against feeding the homeless. All this and more on TMI for Friday, August 11, 2023 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

TMI 08/04/2023 – Bernie’s Call to Climate Action vs. the GOP House’s Climate Sabotage, Food Waste Reduction Can Have a Rebound Effect and more

We start by going through some email received, including one from Senator Bernie Sanders, where the Independent from Vermont looks at the Climate Crisis and asks “how did we get here?” More, he answers that same question with an overview of who knew this would happen, and for how long they’ve known. We then compare that with how the annual budget bills in Congress are being poisoned by GOP House members against taking action to fix the Climate Crisis.

Then we take a look at a new study of food waste reduction – not just the immediate impact that it would have on lowering the amount of food needed to feed people the way we are now, but also the rebound effect from there being more supply in the food chain. Finally, we go over how a focus on recycling (versus redcing and reusing) is not even remotely the best way to go about things. TMI 07/28/2023 – College Towns and Counties Accross America Challenge the GOP at the Ballot Box, How Third Parties Do Not “Spoil” Dem or GOP Campaigns, and more

From beautiful Madison, Wisconsin to Asheville, North Carolina to Austin, Texas and far, far more, “college towns” have become the terror of the GOP in statewide elections, often compensating for the remainder of their states’ votes and then some. We explore how dramatically the tide has turned since just the year 2000, and what this points to from here.

Then, we take aim at the myth of third party candidates spoiling major party electoral campaigns. When you look at the numbers – ALL of the numbers that apply to the situation – you can see clearly that blaming candidates like Jill Stein for Hillary Clinton’s loss makes absolutely no sense. CDC Climate Climate Finance COVID-19 Episode Excess Deaths Interest Payments Pandemic WSUM

TMI 07/21/2023 – Climate Change is Not a Debate: the Climate HAS Changed, The CDC Changed How It Calculates “Excess Deaths” to Downplay COVID, Interest Payments Impoverish Billions of People and more

We no longer need to think of the Climate Crisis as something to dread in the future – it is here, now. From heat-based records on land and in the ocean to flooding in Vermont and Kentucky, there is simply no denying that it is upon us – now if only THAT was enough to ensure real action: we discuss.

Then, the CDC has been telling us that “excess deaths”, a key measure in how bad the COVID pandemic is, has dropped tremendously. The thing is, the way they measure those deaths changed, giving the illusion that less people are dying from COVID than actually are. Finally, we talk about how dozens of nations around the world owe so much on loans they had to take out to pay for climate- and COVID-mitigating measures, that paying the INTEREST on them alone makes it so they can’t afford education and health measures for their people. TMI 07/14/2023 – How COVID-19 Being Endemic is Far From Safe, Crawford Lake, Ontario Proves Man-Made Environmental Impact and a New Epoch and more

“The Pandemic is over” is being deliberately used to give the deceitful impression that we’ve beaten COVID-19, when the latest outbreak crippling parts of Japan, Ireland and Australia (and likely here) all say otherwise as we tackle what it means for COVID to be “endemic”.

Then, we look at how scientists are able to get proof of man-made climate change as well as evidence for a new epoch in the history of the planet all from the unassuming Crawford Lake in Ontario, Canada. Finally, we help Adam McKay and the Lever tell off the “calm down” crowd – maybe a sense of urgency is warranted, eh? TMI 07/07/2023 – How Medicare “Advantage” Plans Harm Their Members and the Future of Medicare, Picher, Oklahoma is a Case Study for Why We Need Progressive Policies and more

A relatively recent addition to Medicare, “Medicare Advantage” plans allow private health corporations to get involved with the decision-making process between a patient and their doctor. Given that these profit-driven companies make more short-term money by denying care than by providing it, this turns the promise of the federal Medicare fund on its head. We examine several examples.

Then, we look at the history of what is now known as Picher, Oklahoma, and how every step of the way conservative, racist and corporate-friendly policies created possibly the worst ecological and human disaster in the USA. TMI 06/30/2023 – Why the Left is Cheering the Titan Disaster, Trumps Audio Recording Destroys Every Defense He’s Used, We Are Doomed Without Vaccinations and more

There’s an irritation among some on the political left over just how prevalent the schadenfreude is among their cohorts regarding the Titan submersible disaster that saw five members of the billionaire class die via their own hubris while on the way to see the Titanic. We examine why the irritation exists, and why so many found joy in the death of the Titan five in the deep.

Then, the audio recording of Donald Trump showing unauthorized people classified documents is damning, so we play the two minutes of audio and then go over how, point by point, it entirely destroys each and every excuse he has ever used for the classified document case he finds himself in. Finally, we show how the idea that humanity “has lived with disease for centuries” is simply the worst take one could ever have. BEST OF TMI 06/23/2023 – JD Vance Sells Out the Safety of His Fellow Ohians, the North Atlantic is Too Hot for Predictable Hurricanes, a Tennessean Judge Nixxes Anti-Drag Law and more

THIS IS A REBROADCAST OF TMI FROM JUNE 16, 2023

In the wake of the East Palatine, Ohio derailment disaster involving tanker rail cars rupturing hazardous materials into the water and air of the good people of Ohio, Senator JD Vance (R – OH) vowed he would work with his fellow Senators to put forward a bill that would address the issues that allowed that to happen. That is, until he got a whiff of that sweet lobbyist money. We detail what happened.

Then, we reveal that the normal defense El Niño provides the USA against hurricanes is being fought by a record-breakingly hot Atlantic Ocean, making it very hard to predict exactly how hurricane season is going to end up. Finally we give two news updates: one in Tennessee where a Trump-appointed Federal judge has struck down the anti-drag “Adult Entertainment Act” in its entirety, citing First Amendment protections, and the second one in Italy where a caldera is truly worrying scientists that it could erupt soon, with no less than three million people living within 30 km of it. TMI 06/09/2023 – “I Wonder What the Poor Folks Are Eating” by Jessica Wildfire, How Monopolies Get Their Way By Throwing Tantrums

Insightful author Jessica Wildfire writes this week about how we Americans ave been systematically shamed out of admitting when we are poor and need help. With her permission, I share “I Wonder What the Poor Folks Are Eating” from her Substack, a piece that details exactly how we’ve been led to try and show gratitude for being ripped off, and never, ever ask for help.

Then we go over the recent increase in monopolistic corporations throwing temper tantrums to get their way when we throw regulations at them that they find inexcusably bad… for their engorged profit margins.
