TMI 09/20/2024 – Greg Palast’s “Vigilantes Inc.” Exposes How YOUR Vote Has Been Stolen, How Disney/Pixar’s Blockbuster Inside Out 2 Robbed Their Unionless Animators, more

On TMI for Friday, 9/20/2024, Greg Palast tells us how his investigations team has busted the most brazen, racist attack on voting rights yet. We’re introduced to a terrible new threat to the right to vote: “Vigilante” challenges by self-appointed vote-fraud hunters – not government officials – who are targeting well over ONE MILLION young voters and voters of color to block the counting of their ballots. They tested the operation out last time in Georgia. The Trump-sponsored group “True the Vote” has gone from 88 vote-challenging vigilantes in 2020 to over 40,000 “volunteers” for 2024 in 43 states! Greg Palast has made this ESSENTIAL documentary free to stream at GregPalast.com – it’s worth watching and sharing if you care about voting.

Then, when you think about Pixar and the wonderful library of entertainment they have created, you don’t often stop to wonder how their workers – animators and such – have fared. In the case of Inside Out 2 – still at theaters and the top-grossing animated film of all time – these folks were not just worked to death in creating so much money for Disney, many of them were let go just before they would have gotten the profit sharing bonuses that would have compensated for the low wages their unionless studio signs them on for. If you ever wanted to know why unions are a good idea, here’s a great example. All this and more on TMI for Friday, September 20, 2024 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

The Voting Rights Act has been the bane of racists in the United States since its inception, helping drive the Dixiecrats into the Republican Party some 60 years ago. It’s no surprise, then, that the GOP and its allies have been attacking it relentlessly at every opportunity, and looking at the 2024 judicial calendar, we shine a light on four key ways that the VRA is in jeopardy this year.

Then, we go over how a Presidential memo just uncovered from the 1960s clearly outlines how long the highest office in the land has known about the dangers facing the world’s climate. We look at all of this and more TMI for Friday, February 16, 2024 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

TMI 09/08/2023 – Fixing the Racism of Interstate Highways, Coiner of “Cisgender” Speaks Out on What it Really Means, How to Accurately Define “Gentrifying” and more

As summer winds down and many of us take to the road before things cool down, we take a look at the Interstate Highway system, and how its planning and development were used to smash communities of color all across the USA – and what we can do now to fix the problems caused by that. Sixty years of suffering is a lot to make up for, but it’s never too late to start.

Then, we hear from Dana Defosse, the PhD who coined the term “cisgender” some thirty years ago, and why she is horrified by how misconstrued and abused the term has become. Finally, we give a quick reminder of how to properly define “gentrification” so we can see it for the class struggle issue that it is, and not the cultural inconvenience some would like to paint it as. TMI 02/11/2022 – How the USA Doesn’t Realize it Is a Poor Country, Fin Whales Make a Return, How “Colorblindness” Is Racism, More

Here in the USA, we are very proud of ourselves as a nation, looking down on “third world” countries where the people face food insecurity, violence from corrupt or racist policing, mass homelessness… without realizing that what we are describing is also HERE. We find out what happened to bring us from the heights of a strong middle class to the point at which very few can truly make ends meet.

Then, in a heartwarming turn, thousands of Fin Whales have been spotted together in Antarctic waters – we’ll tell you why this is even better than it may seem on the surface. Finally, we look at how, because it’s not generally acceptable to be openly racist, the idea of being “colorblind” has spread far and wide. But this trend doesn’t actually help anything – indeed, it may lead to more racism. We discuss all this and more on TMI for Friday, February 11, 2022 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!
