Worse, it gives the loaning countries the expectation that what they “spend” on climate finance will actually come back to them, leaving less actual revenue put towards the effort than the manipulated numbers tell.

AI – artificial intelligence – is an amazing tool, yet still in its infancy as far as development goes. You’d think that might give people pause before using it on life-changing decisions like who gets accepted to a college or university, but this (and far more) is precisely what we’ve discovered it is being used for. We discuss.

Then: Just as soon as Millennials became old enough that it could no longer be denied they should be considered the mainstream voice of power, along comes the term “geriatric millennial” to describe the older portion of the generation, delegitimizing them as being “out of touch” with the rest of their cohort. Madison, like many cities, struggles with how to solve its homelessness problem. Especially in the brutal Wisconsin winters, we don’t want people to freeze to death, but we need to be able to afford the solution. Finland knows a thing or two about Winter AND about homelessness, and their solution: make giving the homeless housing the FIRST thing you do, not third or fourth step down the line. While not cheap, it is far more affordable than any other approach, and actually STOPS homelessness.

Next, we look at the hoops one has to jump through to be a Clerk at the Supreme Court of the United States. These obstacles are making it more difficult for women and minorities to achieve this goal, and thus making the high court Judges and Justices that are often chosen from these clerkships more white and male. Finally, with the 2020 Census fully tabulated, we have the decennial struggle for which states will lose or gain seats in the House – but no one should be losing any, given that there’s no Constitutional reason to have the number of Representatives frozen. If you knew your worth to your employer, you’d almost certainly not put up with the sliver of that worth that they pay you to work for them. One of the tricks used to keep you from demanding more for the hours of your life you spend laboring is to call MANY jobs “low skill”. We examine this falsehood that is meant to make you feel bad for wanting to have your needs met while making the boss rich.

Then, we look at the famous disparity of wealth between Millenials and past generations, and how, when sorted racially, that disparty gets much worse. Finally, we see that cities have found a solution to the housing crisis plaguing them: buy housing up and manage it for those in need! Then, we investigate how, across the USA, BLM protestors were arrested without cause or evidence simply to create the false impression that the protests were unlawful and in need of such inhumane tactics as tear gas and rubber bullets. TMI 12/25/2020 – How to Have Holiday Conversations, Populism’s True Meaning, and Farewell 2020!

On this Xmas Day episode, we get into some pointers on how to keep Zoom calls with loved ones over the Holidays from degenerating into the latest QAnon litany of nonsense. Then, I put to rest some unfinished business with some listeners from “across the pond” who wish to insist they know what “Populism” is. I insist that until they hear where it actually came from, they keep the word out of their mouths – this can be solved simply by listening as I go over the origins, history and the story of the solitary quack who was taken far too seriously in Europe when it comes to Populism.
