Beholden to the interests of big oil and gas corporations, these Dems tout themselves as champions of not only fossil-fuel based jobs, but even the climate, all while fighting the effort their own constituents are asking for to combat climate change.

Then, we see a glimmer of hope as recent FBI crime rate statistics reveal a continued downtrend in criminal activities across the nation. This might surprise you if you follow the news (or the claims made by many politicians, especially on the campaign trail), as the overwhelming majority of Americans seem to not realize it. Finally, we reveal a chilling specter — the rise of the Society for American Civic Renewal (SACR), a menacing force espousing Christian nationalist fascism. At the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) climate conference, there’s been a renewed call to have “climate finance” defined in such a way that keeps things like loans out of the picture. After all, “climate finance” is the funding put forward to help nations that need assistance to help them become greener, and if it includes (via ambiguity) such things as predatory loans or comes with strings attached, it discourages those we want to ENCOURAGE to adapt. Worse, it gives the loaning countries the expectation that what they “spend” on climate finance will actually come back to them, leaving less actual revenue put towards the effort than the manipulated numbers tell.

TMI 02/19/2021 – Fossil Fuels’ Failure in the TX Freeze, Cities Underreport Carbon Footprints, NYC Surveillance, Diagnosing You Under Your Skin

When Texas suffered catastrophic freezing, cutting power to much of the state, right wing media (followed all-too-predictably by mainstream sources) blamed the wind turbines that had locked up in the cold as being the reason why people were suffering and dying. But wind turbines function in much harsher cold than Texas offered just fine, pointing to a problem in cheaping out on their maintenance, and deeper infrastructural issues in the fossil fuel pumps that failed in much greater abundance there.

Then, we discuss how many cities throughout the USA are, intentionally or not, notably underreporting the impact they are having on the environment, and what needs to happen to correct this. Also, we touch on the overwhelming surveillance apparatus that the most populous city in America has built – is it worth it? Finally, we tell you about new medical techniques that are being developed to use the layer just under your skin to diagnose you with potentially greater accuracy and with far less invasiveness than current practices.
